Historic Heights: Edition 003 Is Here
Five more archival photographs of the neighborhood, and five more chances to pin the past.
Another week, another five trips back in time. Edition 003 of Historic Heights is live.
If you haven't played yet: each edition gives you five historic photographs of Brooklyn Heights from the New York Public Library's collections. Study the buildings, the street, the little details — then drop a pin on the map where you think the photographer was standing.
How it works
- Five rounds, one map. Tap or click the map to place your guess, then lock it in.
- Up to 1,000 points per round. The closer your pin, the higher your score, for a top score of 5,000.
- See how close you were. After each guess you'll see your pin and the real spot side by side, plus a Street View of the place today.
- Learn a little history. Every round reveals the address, the year of the photo and a short, sourced history of the building.
- Share your score. When you finish, share your result with friends without giving away any answers.
This week's set spans the 1920s and 1930s — a few familiar blocks that look surprisingly different, and one sweeping rooftop view of the waterfront that takes some real neighborhood knowledge to place.
